Gaile can you answer my question?
On the GW site it says, "Will those who pre-order Guild Wars Factions be given early access to the game?
Yes, those who pre-order will have a 24-hour head-start on players who do not pre-order the game."
How does this work? Will the retail store let us pick up our copies before the listed release date?
I apologize if you've answered this before.
Sincerely,
Ka

I'm not Gaile, but...
There should be a slip of paper in the pre-order package with a pre-order key. Add that key to your existing account and you (supposedly) would get access to Factions content a day prior to the actual release. When you get the actual box, you'd just enter that new key into your account to continue playing.
EBGames won't let copies out before the release date. :S

Faction servers go up on the 27th and only allow preorder keys to log in. On the 28th, they allow everyone else. At the end of the 29th, they cut off access to preorder keys which makes sure that everyone playing has put in their key for the full retail game.
IMO, it's a good way to decrease chances of overloading their servers on release. Having half the population log in at one time then the other half logging in some time later doesn't put as much strain on them as compared to everyone logging on at 00:01 April 28th.

please check what you actually bought.
there are two (2) completely different products out there.
one is a special *preorder box* which is completely separate from the game itself and usually costs about 0-10 dollars (refundable) when you get it.
it has the items/early code/friend pass/etc.
the other is a *preorder* that only reserves a copy of the game for you and does not offer any of the *PREORDER BOX* items.
check to see if you have preordered the game or if you have ordered a *PREORDER BOX*
EDIT
simply picking up the retail box early is NOT A PREORDER as far as any of the goodies are concerned

Go back and argue with them. EBGames is supposed to hand you a DVD case that contains a CD with bonus material and slip of paper with the pre-order access key. That's the only pre-order that they're offering (at least where I went).

So what you are saying is I have to pay for a pre-order box? When I pre-ordered the game that doesn't qualify me for the pre-order items?

no.
here is a link showing the preorder
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=UTF8&v=glance
EDIT
you can get it anywhere amazon just happened to be handy.
you dont *buy* the preorder as whatever you pay for it is deducted from the retail price when you buy the game

I guess I'll call EB tomorrow and see what they tell me. I'll be damned if I'm paying a $7 to ship something that costs $1.
Edit: Nevermind. It has free standard shipping. I guess I'll just pay that $1.

It's free with the preorder. Some places "charge" $10 but the $10 is actually just a "down payment" on the preorder.

In Holland it's 999,99 for the pre-order. However, when you order Factions you get a 999,99 discount on the pre-order box. Weird system, must be to be sure that nobody orders pre-order without ordering the real thing.
